Starship, as it was dubbed, was an unmanned flight test rocket. According to the BBC, the rocket seemed to have developed complications approximately three minutes into its flight and was allegedly detonated by onboard charges.

Elon Musk showed no signs of regret over the loss of the ship and instead tweeted, “Congrats @SpaceX team on an exciting test launch of starship! Learned a lot for next test launch in a few months.”

The ship got off the ground without damaging the launch pad and is reported to be the largest ever built. Starship’s top portion, often known as the ship, has previously flown on quick flights, but this was the first time it had also launched with its lower portion, the vehicle.
