Dancehall artiste Humble Kid narrowly escaped death and is now currently nursing gunshot wounds after he was shot in a drive-by shooting in Portland cottage, Clarendon, last Thursday night.
Speaking with sources on Saturday, a relative of the 2018 Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall contestant said although the entertainer’s condition is still serious, he is counting his blessing and is extremely grateful to be alive.
“Life addi greatest, so right now the artiste just want to recover and continue doing what him do best music. Him Nuh have any known enemy, so mi don’t know why anyone would want to hurt him. Him in a rough spot health-wise but him have faith, so everything a go be alright,” said the relative.
“Humble kid is a bredda who is always about unity so it really mash up mi meds fi see say him coulda loose him life and don’t know why. Right now, di man affi Dey pon oxygen and can hardly talk but god above all things we say. This incident will become a part of his success story just watch.”
According to the relative, Humble Kid, given name is Nicholas Shepherd, was standing outside of a shop in the community when a car drove up on one of the occupants began to fire shots in his direction before making off.
Shortly after, the singjay was found suffering from injuries in his chest, arm, and his right leg.
“Right now mi family (Humble Kid) string up in the hospital and can’t even feel nothing inna him right foot. It pain me heart because at the end of the day, a just music dem man dey deal wid, don’t get me wrong nah swear fi a man cause we nuh know way dem a do when we nuh dey round yuh get me, but dah yuth yah stick to him craft day in day out. And me really don’t find it fair fi know say a Humble yuth like him fi a walk wid fear inna him life. All him do was a tribute song to all of the people who had lost a loved one, nothing esle,” he said.
An officer from the Lionel town police station has confirmed the incident, while stating that the investigation will continue.
Humble Kid is a native of Clarendon. He is currently signed to House of Payne Records.
