Attracting thousands of visitors every year, Jamaica has long been a prime vacation spot and was named American singer and actress Fantasia Barrino-Taylor’s favourite destination during a recent interview.
Fantasia is the starring character in the new film adaptation of the renowned movie The Color Purple. Following the release of the musical movie in December, Fantasia and her co-stars have embarked on a press tour to promote the film.
Fantasia recently sat down with Variety Magazine to talk about acting, music, and some of her favourite things. A Grammy-winning artiste, Fantasia has travelled around the world but dubbed Jamaica the favourite place she has travelled to while speaking with Variety.
During the interview, Fantasia expressed her immense fondness for Jamaica, declaring, “I just love Jamaica.” The singer also emphasised her love for the country’s celebrated cuisine and its even more popular nightlife.
“Oh my God, the food in Jamaica! I’m definitely gaining a couple of pounds, but I love to eat. I love to go to the clubs and dance all night,” Fantasia stated.
Welcoming Fantasia’s exceptional endorsement of the island, Jamaica Ministry of Tourism shared a clip of the interview, highlighting that the actress visits frequently to perform and enjoy her downtime.
The When I See You singer previously visited Jamaica in 2016.
In addition to touring the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation in Kingston she also performed at the US Embassy’s free charity concert, Blues on the Green, in aid of the centre.
