Farmer Worried Overseas Companies Will Take Over the Jamaica Ganja Market [Video]

Since Marijuana aka ganja became decriminalized in 2015, foreigners seem to be taking over the opportunity to set up shop and produce local weed to sell. If the current state continues foreigners are gonna run the market says a veteran Jamaican Weed former called Ras Iyah V.

This video documentary features the legendary Orange Hill known to produce the best ganja in Jamaica.

“the industry is moving every single day” says one of the top Jamaican Ganja formers.

Since 2015, Jamaica has become the site of a ganja gold rush, as foreign investors pump in money and set up shop on the island. Smaller local farmers, many of whom were being harassed and punished for growing in the past, simply can’t compete.

So far the Jamaican Government has granted a total of 30 licenses, by Law all foreign owners are requested to share 51% of their profit with a local entity.

Ras Iyah V also explained that while not all of the foreigners are evil, most of them are primarily after money which will benefit overseas mostly hence little benefits for Jamaicans.
