Father Reportedly Fatally Stabs Daughter in Kingston

A 17-year-old girl was killed in Kingston, and the police are currently searching for her father, the only suspect in the murder. The report of the teen’s death detailed that Shedeque Calvert was allegedly killed by her father during an altercation at their home on Berry Street.
According to the Jamaica Observer, a dispute between Calvert and her father broke out around 1:10 am, Sunday morning, resulting in Calvert being stabbed in the chest with a knife. She passed away at the hospital while receiving medical care.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), which runs 10 Domestic Violence Intervention (DVI) facilities across the island, has reaffirmed its commitment to stopping domestic violence by raising public awareness and conducting a thorough probe into all domestic abuse reports.
In addition, the JCF also urges anyone who suspects domestic abuse to come forward.
