FLOYD MAYWEATHER HAS VOLUNTEERED TO PAY FOR THE FUNERAL OF GEORGE FLOYD

Popular boxer Floyd Mayweather has offered to pay funeral costs of George Floyd, an African American that died in police custody in Minneapolis.

The former world champion confirmed on Twitter that he had made an offer, and several local media reports say the family agreed. TMZ Sports tweeted a photo of Mayweather’s check for the funeral of George Floyd for $ 88,500.

Mayweather also paid for the funeral of Genar Hernández, his former opponent, and legendary Joe Frazier in 2011. However, Mayweather Promotions and the boxing agency haven’t responded to any post.

Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer who kneeled on Floyd, was fired and charged with third and second-degree murder. The other three other officers involved in the arrest have not been charged.

Floyd’s death has sparked outrage in the United States and abroad. Several athletes and professional leagues, including the great Michael Jordan of the NBA and the 15-time golfer Tiger Woods have also lent their voice for the cause.

Steve Bisciotti, the owner of NFL Baltimore Ravens, has pledged $ 1 million for social justice reform and said a group of current and past players would decide which organizations will benefit.

“I cannot say anything that can alleviate the pain felt by African-American communities across the country. No words will make up for the damage,” Bisciotti said in a statement. “Like many people, I am sick, disappointed, and shaken by acts of racism which continue to dominate our society.

“The most recent murder, in which George Floyd is involved, is another tragic example of the discrimination that African-Americans experience daily.
