Following Popcaan’s statements regarding Shaggy and the accusations that Solid Agency president Sharon Burke sabotaged his performance, Foota Hype has alleged that Popcaan was furious with the pair because they removed him from a song.

While performing at Burna Boy’s Love Damini concert in December 2022, Popcaan experienced several technical issues that interrupted his set. The event was organized by the Solid Agency, and Popcaan later took to social media to denounce Burke as “a devil.”

The dancehall entertainer claimed that she had sabotaged his performance because she wanted to be a gatekeeper for the music industry, but she could not control him or his career. The Firm and Strong deejay also called out fellow dancehall artiste Shaggy during his rant, referring to him as a “likkle b*tch.”

At the time of his statements, Popcaan gave no explanation or reasoning regarding his enmity for Shaggy. But in a recent live stream, music selector Foota Hype alleged that the artiste was removed from a planned collaborative single with Shaggy without being told.

According to Foota, sources within Popcaan’s inner circle revealed that Popcaan was excited about the song and working with the dancehall veteran. However, Shaggy allegedly removed Popcaan from the single after Burke convinced him to replace the Family deejay with Teejay.

Foota did not divulge the single’s name, but on December 21, the same day as Popcaan’s rant, Burke announced a new single, Gyal Dem Time, by Shaggy and Teejay on her Instagram page. The Solid Agency founder declared the track the “next big tune for Jamaica” while shouting out Shaggy and Teejay in the caption of the short teaser video for the artistes’ new collaboration.

Founded in the 1990s, the Solid Agency is one of Jamaica’s most successful artiste management and booking agencies. The company oversees the booking and management of artistes such as Aidonia, Govana, Kevin Downswell, as well as Shaggy and Teejay.

A few days after Popcaan’s comments, Teejay spoke out in defence of Burke’s character and gave Shaggy a shoutout. The entertainer also alleged that an influential artiste blocked him from performing at Burna Boy’s concert.
