Kerry-Ann Townsend is now pleading with the public to contact Governor Ron DeSantis and demand the release of her Diabetic brother Oneil ‘Foota Hype’ Thomas, as she is now deeply concerned.
She says he didn’t commit a crime and he is a father and a born Jamaican. She is scared because of what is happening now and she even petitions for the release of all other detainees to be released when they are low risk (no aggravated felonies committed) and have consented to be deported and still lay in wait.
She doesn’t want the decisions to be made based on who likes him or don’t like him.
Foota’s nutrition has become a major concern and Townsend found out about it after she organized a conference call and he said he was dying of hunger and if he doesn’t eat and his blood sugar drops too low, he gets the close comatose state.
When he finally eats what he is given, it causes his diabetes to spike. He really shouldn’t be eating the only thing he is being offered.
He has been detained in an immigration facility for a few months and there is a high-risk of contracting the novel coronavirus disease.
In this pandemic, to be kept in a facility that houses thousands of prisoners, and workers who go home and come back every day, he is liable to catch this disease more than anybody else, Foota fears.
Townsend revealed that, precautions against spreading the virus are lacking at the facility. As they’re still arresting people, adding them to the number of detainees who are there.
New people can be asymptomatic and pass on the virus to other inmates or detainees. Nobody knows what’s going on and there’s no form of precautions being taken. He was at a place where there was no water for hours, a week or two ago.
She expressed that her cry for help is not about getting a rescheduled court date.
She wonders if her brother will get out of this alive. That’s what the scary thing is for her and for all his family, friends and followers.
She need help from Jamaicans, they can give assistance with calling the governor in Florida, they can all make some noise about releasing not just him, but other people in these facilities too, as they just don’t have a voice and don’t know the right people to reach out to. She also urged Jamaicans not to make this about if they like Foota Hype or not.
