Footage Shows 13-Y-O and 11-Y-O Brazilian Girls Falling From Ferris Wheel
A thirteen-year-old Brazilian girl was admitted to the hospital after sustaining injuries during a fall several meters down to the ground from a Ferris wheel.
The incident occurred while the teen and her 11-year-old friend were at the fairground at an amusement park. According to the 11-year-old’s father, Raimundo Claudinei, the Ferris wheel only had a piece of rope separating riders from the drop and felt very unsafe.
Claudinei was seated with his younger daughter separately from his 11-year-old and her friend. He said they had only taken about five turns on the Ferris wheel when he realised something.
Reports state that while the ride turned, a safety lock on the girl’s seat unlatched, causing their seat to flip and their fall.
The teen fell 20 feet to the ground, injuring her pelvic area, but the 11-year-old managed to grip a section of the wheel. In a video taken on the night of the October 31 incident, she can be seen dangling from the Ferris wheel as she screams, fighting to hold her grip as the wheel continues to turn. As people flock in her direction, she loses hold of the wheel and falls, hitting the structure below her and prompting screams from the crowd.
Both girls received medical attention at the amusement park and later at a hospital. However, the younger girl was released, while the teen remained for more tests. The amusement park was closed down after the incident, and Claudinei disclosed his intention to sue after his daughter’s recovery.
