On Thursday, TVJ shared a news report to social media about the activity which was caught secretly on video with the caption, “There is outrage after a video showing a man of Asian descent skinning and apparently preparing a dog for human consumption. But while consuming dogs in other parts of the world, particularly Asia is normal it is illegal in Jamaica. As Giovanni Dennis reports authorities have launched an investigation.”

The video shows a Chinese-looking man with a knife in hand, dressed in an orange shirt, cutting sections of the carcass of a dog. At one point he flipped the carcass over, revealing the head of the animal. The entire body was skinned except the head.

As per the report, the video was captured this week on the island and the persons who usually carry out such activities are Asians who are on the island for work. It’s unclear where exactly the latest recorded incident took place.

Reacting to the video report, one person stated on on Instagram, “I have a furry baby at home and I’m always gutted and terrified whenever I see these type of videos😭😭😭😭😭😭 I can’t imagine anyone skinning my MILO like this.” Another said, “Sigh , ok it’s wrong but i remember years ago while teaching I gave my student (Indian ) corn beef/ bully beef and his dad was furious he said they don’t eat beef as it’s consider a God. So let’s be mindful that certain practices is quite normal in other counties. Poor brownie .”
