Former MMA Fighter Takes Down Knife-Wielding Man in Viral Footage
A knife-wielding man had no idea what he was getting himself into when he attacked a former MMA fighter. The attack was captured on a CCTV camera at a Miami parking lot, where ex-MMA fighter Javier Baez was sitting in his car.
According to a report, the incident occurred about 4:00 a.m. last Wednesday when Baez was in the parking lot after going out. Baez said that the man was yelling on the phone before he came over to his car.
According to the New York Post, the 50-year-old attacker, Omar Marrero, reportedly hit the car window and then entered the vehicle to cut Baez, but Baez exited the vehicle.
However, this was not shown in the circulating footage. During the surveillance footage, Baez, who said his reflexes kicked in, stood near his vehicle and was seemingly anticipating the attacker’s move.
The attacker, who was seen with a large knife, then charged at Baez, and Baez swiftly blocked the attack, lifted Marrero into the air and slammed him to the ground.
Baez subsequently restrained the man by putting him in a “chokehold” and called the police.
Marrero has been charged with burglary with assault or battery and aggravated battery.
