Gary Grindly, a businessman from St. Elizabeth, has died

In a series of tragic events, a businessman and farmer from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, was pronounced dead at a hospital on Monday. The deceased man has been identified as Gary Grindley, the brother of former Petrojam General, Manager Floyd Grindley.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner, the brother of the deceased Gary Grindley was arrested in 2021 and charged with the crime of aiding and abetting fraud in connection with the Jamaica-owned oil refinery scandal, Pretrojam.

According to a preliminary report, the farmer consumed a weed killer. These are herbicides that have been chemically engineered to kill specific plants that may impede the growth of a plant that is intentionally being grown.

Since the release of the news, social media users on Twitter have commented on the post, expressing that they smell foul play because the man is a seasoned farmer. They also questioned the situation by speculating that the man would have had to ingest a considerable amount of the herbicide for it to be fatal to his health.

Award winning journalist, Abka Fitz-Henley, also shared the news of Grindley’s passing to his Twitter account and it generated a lot of commentary.
