Gramps Morgan Dedicates Touching Tribute to Brother Peter; Memorial Service Scheduled for Next Week

In his first official statement since the passing of his brother, Peter ‘Peetah’ Morgan, Roy ‘Gramps’ Morgan has dedicated a touching tribute to the beloved lead singer of Morgan Heritage.

For years, Gramps and Peter performed alongside their siblings in the acclaimed Reggae group Morgan Heritage, walking away with the best Reggae Album for the 58th Grammy Awards. Peter’s passing on Sunday after reportedly suffering from a stroke took much of the entertainment world by surprise.

Following the announcement of Peter’s death on Sunday, Gramps dedicated a touching tribute to his brother on his Instagram page on Thursday. In the message, Gramps praised Peter for both his brotherhood and his love and commitment to music.

“You were the greatest bredda I’ll continue to speak of your work Ethic, your ability to ignore the noise in the market, and your love for this music was like next to none,” Gramps stated.

Mourning his brother’s passing, Gramps expressed that his death still does not feel real.

“Fly High My brother my best friend my partner. It still don’t seem real. WORDS WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH. I Got you Little bro Don’t Worry… Fly High with our Daddy.”

Peter reportedly suffered from diabetes prior to his death and had been hospitalised for some time following a stroke. A memorial service for the singer is scheduled for March 7 in Orlando, Florida.

The service will commence with a public viewing before the main memorial service, which will conclude with a lantern lighting. The location of the memorial service has not yet been announced.

Gramps received an outpouring of support from entertainers both locally and internationally, who lamented Peter’s passing in the comment section.

“I remember linking up for the first time in NY. Still can’t believe, still don’t want to. So much things I want to say, just dont know where to start,” Ky-Mani Marley wrote.

American singer India Arie extended her love to Gramps in her message.

“Oh man. thinking of him you and all of the family so much every day. I love you Gramps,” India Arie stated.

Gramps’ sister Sandra Morgan shared her brother’s grief and expressed that Peter was very special.

“I love you so much and I know it’s so hard my bother! He was so loved and so special. Jah shall wash away all the tears from our eyes … Can’t wait to give you hug! Heritage for Life,” Sandra wrote.

Gramps son, Jelanie Morgan, encouraged his father to remain strong.

“I love you dad stay strong we got you,” Jalanie stated.
