Peter ‘Peetah’ Morgan of Morgan Heritage Passes Away at age 46

On Sunday, February 25, Grammy Award Winning Reggae group Morgan Heritage announced the death of their brother and lead singer Peter ‘Peetah’ Morgan via a social media post.

Known for speaking on the injustice of the voiceless, with a catalogue of Reggae hits, the multi-Grammy award-winning singer is the voice of many of our beloved songs, and well-known lyrics like, “tell mi how come?” and “,you dont affi dread fi be rasta, this not a dreadlocks thing.”

Longevity and consistency are what define icons. Morgan Heritage is a true testament to the latter with the band having hit songs across two decades in the music business with ‘Peetah‘ as their main singer playing an iconic role over the years.

Sunday’s announcement via Morgan Heritage’s official Instagram page reads, “It is out of sincere love that we share that our beloved husband, father, son, and brother and lead singer of Morgan Heritage Peter Anthony Morgan has ascended today February 25th, 2024.”

The message continues, “Jah come and save us from ourselves because love is the only way.”

“Our Family thanks you in advance for your overwhelming love and support and we ask for your continued prayers as we go through this process. We also ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of healing. Thank you!”

Peter ‘Peetah’ Morgan

Morgan Heritage is known for massive singles such as ‘Don’t Haffi Dread’, ‘Down By The River’, ‘Tell Me How Come’ and ‘Sunday Morning’.

Originally made up of five of Denroy Morgan’s very talented children, Morgan Heritage up until Peetah’s death comprised of Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Peter “Peetah” Morgan and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan who are considered The Trinity.

He died at 46 years old. The cause of death nor the location of his passing was mentioned to the public.
