Guess Which Dancehall Artiste This Is

Share

A former student of Ocho Rios High, this Dancehall artiste made the bold move to halt his studies and leave high school amid the coronavirus pandemic to pursue his passion for music. While his decision to leave school for Dancehall was not planned, music was in his blood as his father was also an artiste before he passed away.

While not many can boast that they successfully transitioned from a high school student to one of the industry’s fast-rising stars, the artiste has created a strong fanbase locally. After debuting his first single, Ready, this young deejay has gone on to release multiple local dancehall hits.

While he is often referred to as the ‘Bad Juvi’, he was born Romeo Hines and is professionally known as Pablo YG. The artiste’s name is partially inspired by his father, Mr. Groove, and Argentinian footballer Pablo Aimar, whom he was compared to at school because of his football prowess.

Amid the praise of his single Rich N Richer, Pablo released his first EP in March under the same title. The deejay has received praise from both his peers and his musical elders, such as Queen Ifrica.

Despite his young age, Pablo has already taken to the stage at coveted Jamaican events, such as Sting, where he clashed with Malie Donn in 2022. He also performed at Reggae Sumfest in 2023.
