In recent months the opposition in Haiti had demanded that the president, Jovenel Moise should step down after he ruled by decree for over two years as the country failed to hold elections. However, President Moise and his wife Martine Moise were brutally attacked and he was assassinated, while his wife was hospitalized after they were shot in their own residence early Wednesday morning.
The interim prime minister, Claude Joseph made the report and called the killing an inhumane, hateful and barbaric act as he condemned the crime.
Both the Armed Forces of Haiti and the National Police of Haiti are in control of the countries security. It is believed that Democracy and Republic will win.
Some businesses were ransacked early Wednesday in Port-au-Prince. The police were deployed so they could to try to regain control of the country.
It was only reported that the killers spoke both Spanish and English, but nothing more was said about them.
The country had grown unstable and disgruntled under Moise before he was assassinated.
