HBO Interested in Vybz Kartel’s Murder Case

American premium cable, satellite Network HBO contacted Mr. Bert Samuels, one of the Attorneys who represents Vybz Kartel in his murder trial, after he and his co-accused were convicted for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.

Due to Vybz Kartel’s popularity in the music business, reports state that HBO is interested in documenting the outcome of the appeal.

Mr. Samuels said, “they want to be here 2 days before the verdict for the appeal is read. They have been calling and showing an interest in the case since the case went before the judges for an appeal.”
Recently, there was a letter to Kartel’s Attorneys that stated that the verdict is almost ready, and persons are now speculating that it could be handed down before the end of this year.

Mr. Samuels said HBO is calling quite frequently as they are very interested in the verdict that will be handed down for Vybz Kartel, Shawn Storm and the other co-accused.

The Appeal for the murder conviction of Vybz Kartel and his co-accused is now at an advanced stage. This was revealed after a letter was sent out by Kartel’s lead lawyer, Queens Counsel, Tom Tavares Finson. Even though there was a delay of about one and a half years, the preparation of the ruling could finally end soon.

Vybz Kartel and his fans have waited for 18 months to hear the judgment from the Court of Appeal.

Sources revealed that on November 21, 2019, Mr. Tavares Finson wrote to Justice Dennis Morrison, the Court of Appeal President and asked about the delay in the ruling, that is to be handed down.

In July 2018, prosecutors made their case to the Court of Appeal and asked the tribunal to rule that the defence lawyer had not made a sufficient case for them to free Kartel.

An application by defence lawyers for four pieces of new evidence to be used in the appeal was accepted by the Court of Appeal, during the hearing.

The lawyers said the meta-data from Kartel’s phone did not show where he could be at the crime scene.

In 2018 when the hearing ended, the Court of Appeal revealed that judgement would be handed down later in the air.
Yet it has been 18-months, and this has been the first time that there is an indication that the judge’s decision, might arrive soon.

In 2011, Vybz Kartel, Kahira Jones, Shawn Storm and Andre St. John were found guilty for the murder of Clive Lizard Williams.

In a letter dated December 2, 2019, the registrar told Mr. Tavares Finson that she was asked to inform him and the other lawyers who are representing Kartel and his co-appellants that the Appeal Court Judges via the Court Registrar responded to Mr. Tavares Finson and other attorneys for Kartel and his co-appellants that the preparation of the ruling is at an advanced stage at this time.
