Here’s Why Coronavirus Fears Cause Jamaica to Deny Cruise Ship Access

Dr. Karen Webster-Kerr, the Principal Medical Officer and National Epidemiologist in the Health and Wellness Ministry, said a cruise ship with more than 4,500 passengers and 1,600 crew members were denied access to dock in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.

In a statement in the afternoon yesterday, Dr Webster-Kerr said the ship arrived in the morning.

A crew member on board the vessel was sick and indicated to the authorities that the persons on board could be infected, and they should not be allowed to disembark.

Jamaica Tourism officials then denied the ship access to dock and a report was later made.
