Ice Spice Expected to Drop Dancehall-Inspired Single That Samples Sean Paul’s ‘Gimme di light’ and Buzz Riddim

24-year-old, Bronx, New York rapper Isis Naija Gaston who is more commonly known as Ice Spice is the latest popular American artiste to share unreleased music which samples music from the dancehall music genre.

During her performance over the weekend at the 23rd edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival staged at the Empire Polo Club in California, Ice Spice previewed the unreleased song, produced by dancehall producer, Troyton Rami.

The beat of the song previewed samples the iconic ‘Buzz Riddim’ which was released back in 2002.

Notably, the song also samples a few lines from Sean Paul‘s hit song ‘Gimme Di Light’. The new song by Ice Spice features Sean Paul’s original vocals, where he sings, “Jus gimme the light and pass the dro, Buss anotha bokkle a Mo, Gyal dem inna mi sight and I gots to know, Which one is gonna catch my flow.”

The beat also features multiple stand-out instruments from the original riddim.

Yardhype was told by Troyton Rami on Monday that the song was recorded in 2024 by Ice Spice and is intended to be a single on her upcoming album. However, It’s unclear when the song will be released and in which capacity.

The preview of the song at Coachella was to test the crowd and watch the media’s reaction to the unreleased song.

Gimme The Light’ by Sean Paul was the first single off his ‘Dutty Rock’ album Which was released over two decades ago, back in 2002.
