Model-turned-recording artiste Sandra Rose recently caught the attention of tons of Dancehall fans around the world, after a few photos of her and Vybz Kartel hit the internet.

It was a dream come true for the entertainer whose music career is just about nine months old to meet the ‘Teacha’ who was released from prison just two months ago, making him a hot commodity.

Sandra who celebrated her 26th birthday on October 3 had a detailed chat with Yardhype where she explained her viral moments with both Kartel and Shawn Storm, and what she has been cooking up with the latter; especially since they became friends while he too was in prison.

“It was my first time meeting Vybz Kartel in person. It was very nice; great energy, very motivational, positive spirit, you know?” she states. “I had a performance at Jangas (in Kingston), and it was my very first performance there and I asked my friend(Pinkii) to come with me. She came with me, and I guess Pinkii was telling ‘Teacha’ that, like, I’m there performing. She told him that I was the same one that did the Shawn Storm TV interview. So he was like, ‘oh yeah? Say no more. Forward to the hotel after. Let’s chill and hold a vibes.’ That’s how I got introduced to him,” she added.

Those who have seen the photos of Rose and the ‘Worl’ Boss’ can agree that they do look really cosy. When quizzed about the closeness of their relationship, the singer insisted that it was purely platonic.

“It’s all good vibes and positive energy. Ntn like dat! One Teacha…’’she said adding that her “greatest achievement” would be to collaborate with Vybz Kartel.

As it relates to Shawn Storm, Rose was meeting an internet friend in person, at last. They too have snapped some photos together that have hit the net. Earlier this year, they teamed up on the track ‘Luxury Dolly’ and are already back in the recording booth cooking up new projects.

‘Luxury Dolly’ was produced by Kwashawna Records & Smokeshop Studios.

“People love Luxury Dolly, but you know, it didn’t get the promo it deserved. That’s why we’re gonna start promo, start a proper promo again,” she said.

As a young, beautiful, talented female performer, there have been many stories about the challenges that come with the role. Rose said that it has been no different for her. She has had to be extremely careful not to fall into certain traps as she manoeuvres a strictly professional career.

“Sometimes. people will approach me on a music vibe, but they don’t really want the music vibe, you know? They just use that to get my attention, and then try something else. And then when I decline that, it’s like, oh, everything is out the window,” she shared.

Added Rose, “I just decided to just keep myself more exclusive now. I don’t work with just any and everybody besides my little team.”

She however said that she is not opposed to working with talents who are serious about their craft, but will continue to be strategic about how she goes about things.

In the meantime, Rose noted that she welcomes the shift that has been occurring in Dancehall, but believes there is a shortage in songs that cater to the ladies.

“Nothing ever stays the same, you know? It’s just evolving into its own thing. But, I feel like I like the way Dancehall is right now. The only thing I would suggest is more, you know, more of a female music, so we the girls can dance and be happy to them again,” she said.

As a full-time artiste back and forth between Jamaica and Canada, the singer said she is here to stay. After all, music comes so easily to her.

She said she will be flying to Dubai in the coming weeks, or months to shoot a music video for a track aptly titled ‘Fly Me To Dubai.’

Her, next song titled ‘Street Luv’ will be released on October 5th featuring French Guyanese artiste ‘Sikem’
