Ishawna’s “New Child” Music Video

Female Dancehall artiste Ishawna, also known as Ms. Legendary, earlier hinted that she is expecting a new child on her Instagram page via a short reel.

In the reel, the Equal Rights singer showed a screenshot of her phone’s music player. The song shown on the player at the time was titled “Ishawna New Child.” In the caption, the thirty-five years old singer wrote “#NewChild [baby emoji] #Ishawna,” leaving fans and viewers to speculate.

Her followers were quick to react to the post. Some thought the artiste was expecting a new child, while others believed she was promoting a new song.

Under the post, @browneyerebel wrote, “look like me gal ago have a baby,” to which @teri4life replied, “word must lol.” Another fan commented, “shake up the place again mi friend!” @loudboss seemed to be anticipating a song with her comments, she wrote, “when this drop [raising hands emojis] [fire emojis]!!!!”

Approximately six hours after posting the first reel, Ishawna proved the latter right by announcing the release of her new music video titled “New Child.” In the caption, @mslegendary wrote, “OUT NOW!!! [Fire emoji] #NewChild #Ishawna.” The music video is available on Ishawna’s youtube channel.

In the song, the singer sang about being a new person/new child. She stated that things that once affected her in a negative way no longer have the same effect on her. Popular Tiktok personality, Brittany Goffe and several female dancers were seen in the music video which was filmed in a church.

It’s a song about getting over her ex, “I’m feeling like a new child, I’m feeling brand new… suh mi tell di bwoy lowe mi lowe mi try nuh come back,” sings Ishawna.

Ishawna, whose full name is Ishawna Smith, was born on September 29, 1986, in the parish of Kingston. She is known for her controversial song “Equal Rights,” a remix to English singer Ed Sheeran’s mega-hit “Shape Of You.” The two artistes later collaborated on an official track called “Brace It” in June 2022.
