ISHAWNA To Release New Song With Ed Sheeran SOON
Female dancehall artiste Ishawna took to social media hours ago to announce that she has a musical collaboration with Grammy-winning UK artiste Ed Sheeran who is also a fan of hers. Ed Sheeran actually broke the news first while talking in an interview.
In the interview, Ed Sheeran stated that “Ishawna got me singing patois with her and I was like ‘I don’t know’ and she was like ‘trust me, Kingston slang, they’re gonna f**king love it’, I’m actually going to record my bits after this.”
An excited Ishawna posted that video clip of Sheeran and wrote, “I was trying soooo hard to keep this a secret but since Ed Sheeran has let the cat out of the bag, it’s only right I share the good news!!!!😩😆😭😁🙌🏽 IT’S OFFICIAL GUYS!!! ED SHEERAN & ISHAWNA COLLAB COMING SOON🎶🔥🔥🔥.”
The “Equal Rights” Singer went on to thank Ed Sheeran by writing, “I just want to say THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!! Back in October Ishawna posted a video of Ed Sheeran singing her song “Equal Right/Pepsi” which is a remix to Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” hit song. He knows her remix word for word and talked about how much he loved her remix. This caused Ishawna to detail why her remix was created and how.
This is what she had to say, “Story Time❗️❗️❗️When I recorded Equal Rights it was never meant to be a “real” song. I was just so in love with Ed Sheeran song and the riddim just moved me in a way I couldn’t explain. I’ve always wanted to touch on the topic and I just knew it was time. The song went viral immediately, yet it wasn’t on any streaming platforms. At that point I didn’t have any clearance to use the track and I thought Ed Sheeran would never give me the clearance because I’m an independent artist and i had no major label behind me to reach out to his team. I ended up putting out the song on a brand new riddim to avoid any legal issues.(If you check iTunes, Spotify etc you will see that it’s a different version)😩
Fast forward 4 years later Ed Sheeran is singing my song Equal Rights word for word saying it’s his favorite.😭🔥🔥🔥🔥
