Jamaica Curfew Hours Update… All Day Lock-Down for Sunday, March 28th

Today Sunday, March 21st was the latest press briefing by Jamaica’s government and during the briefing, the curfew hours island-wide for the next couple of weeks were announced by PM Holness who outlines that all the measures that are being implemented are results-driven and for the best outcome for the island.

As announced by Holness, starting this Thursday, March 23rd to March 26 the nightly curfew hours will remain as is currently from 8 PM to 5 AM. While on Saturday, March 27 the curfew will begin at 12 noon and ends at 5 AM on Monday, March 29, 2021. As a result of these latest measures, Jamaica will see the first day of total lock-down on Sunday, March 28th allowing only essential workers and emergency moments to be carried out.

With these new measure put in place the PM also outlines that on Friday, March 26th business will be closed at 12 noon so that people can shop for the limited weekend. Starting Monday, March 29 to Wednesday, March 31st the curfew hours islandwide will return to normal, from 8 PM to 5 AM.

Vaccination centres will be open on lockdown days however for limited times during the day.

PM Andrew Holness Gives Press Briefing on Crime, COVID-19 etc

Curfew will star at 8pm on Holy Thursday to 5AM on Saturday, hence there will also be a total lockdown on Good Friday.

Holness explains that staring April Jamaica will go into a new COVID-19 regime hinting that we may see Fewer hours of freedom thereafter. On Saturday, April 3rd Curfew begins at 12 noon and ends at 5 AM on Tuesday, April 6, Hence both Sunday and Monday will be a total lockdown.

On April 10, the Curfew will begin at noon and ends at 5 AM on Monday on April 12, in other words, the Jamaica Government have implemented tighter weekend hours for the next three weekends after which we will get another update on Curfew hours.

The current ban on direct UK flights will extend to April 31st.

On the other hand Holness reminds us that all schools will continue to be closed while the current restrictions on funerals and burials will continue with burials being able to keep only from Mondays to Fridays with no more than 10 people.

The ban on all events/parties island will continue until March 13th, 2021.
