Jamaica Finishes 5th On Tokyo Olympics Track And Field Medal Table
The track and Field events have concluded the Tokyo Olympics and the United States Of America has taken the top medal position, however, Jamaica is still happy placing fifth on the medal table with 4 Gold medals, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals.
The final race for the National team, was the 4×400 race, which saw the women copping a bronze medal however, the men did not qualify for a medal position.
Leading Jamaica in 4th place is Poland who also won 9 medals like Jamaica, only securing an extra silver medal to be in their advantageous 4th position.
Ahead of Poland is Kenya who won, 4 gold medals, 4 silver, and 2 Bronze, and closed out their competition by securing the number 1 spot in the marathon race that they are well known to dominate.
Beating Kenya with an impressive 5 Gold medal haul is Italy, who sealed up the second place position on the medal table behind the United States of America track and field team who got a massive 26 medals, with 7 being gold, 12 silver and 7 bronze.
When compared in size and population to the other countries, Jamaica certainly has done well compared to the United States and the other nations whose population doubles that of Jamaica many times.
In the ranking system, it is said that Jamaica would have been given the second place position for the Caribbean, since the Bahamas has a smaller population, and won two gold medals, which would have given them the top spot.
