As she continues to evolve as an artiste and diversify her catalogue of music, Shenseea has been delving into various genres as she moves beyond dancehall. However, her shift away from her dancehall roots has been polarising, predominantly among her Jamaican fans.

According to stats shared by the Good Comfort singer, Jamaica is not among the top five countries that have streamed her music. With Shenseea becoming one of the most recognisable Jamaican entertainers now based in the United States, it is not surprising that the North American country would be first on the list as the country from which she received her most streams.

The United Kingdom and Canada were second and third on the list, with Germany and France at fourth and fifth, respectively. Shenseea’s streams were calculated from 184 countries that streamed her music overall. It is not clear in what position Jamaica falls on this list of countries. Exactly why the artist’s homeland and where she got her big start was not among her top streamers can be due to several contributing factors.

While the backlash Shenseea has been receiving from Jamaican fans both locally and in the diaspora may be the most buzzworthy cause, the country’s much smaller population, as well as the number of people who choose to stream via different platforms, is also a contributing factor. In regards to the remainder of her streaming numbers, Shenseea has acquired a total of 143.4 million streams this year, with 20.7 million listers.

6.2 million hours of the Blessed singer’s music were streamed in 2023 on Spotify. She has an average of 4.1 million listeners every month. Sharing her Spotify stats in her Instagram stories, Shenseea thanked her fans for their support and promised that more music was on the way.
