Being at home no longer means you can’t have a party. Now that virtual parties have become the latest trend.

The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) uses it’s digital platform to put on virtual dance parties, on Instagram Live for people who want to dance their cares away and they also practice responsible social distancing. The current situation causes persons to avoid being in crowded places such as dance clubs and stage shows.

The JTB started its “Escape to Jamaica” series on Friday, April 3 at 9:00 p.m. EDT (8:00 p.m. local Jamaica time), one of Jamaica’s leading disc jockeys, ZJ Sparks was featured. The popular DJ will also host a dance party that features the latest reggae and dance hits now live from Kingston, Jamaica.

The series of dance parties will go live, weekly, on the JTB’s Instagram on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Added to dance parties are cooking demos and wellness sessions like yoga and other self-care practices to help persons to relax.

On Monday, April 6 at 9:00 p.m. EDT (8:00 p.m. local), Empress Thandi Wise, a Certified Yoga Instructor from Rasta Wellness Centre and Jakes Hotel will host the yoga session and on Wednesday, April 8 at 6:00 p.m. EDT (5:00 p.m. local) Andre Fowles, Food Network Chopped Champion and Culinary Ambassador for Miss Lily’s in New York, Negril, and Dubai, will host his cooking session.

Now that persons are encouraged to stay home all over the globe they may be in need of an escape with what’s happening with the spread of COVID-19 right now.

Donovan White, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism revealed that Jamaica offers this live series, which is a virtual getaway through our culture, music, cuisine, warm people and the unmistakable Jamaican spirit, “Since visitors are unable to come to us at the moment, we want to bring the Heartbeat of the World” to their homes.

Jamaica is here to welcome travelers when the time is right, but we want our followers to know we can only get through this together.”
