Despite being spared the wrath of Hurricane Helene, sections of Jamaica have been receiving heavy rainfall over the past week. The latest forecast shows less rainfall for Thursday and Friday, however, rainy weather is expected to sweep the island again starting over the weekend.
As reported by Weather Jamaica on Thursday, “a Tropical Wave over the eastern Caribbean will bring more showers and thunderstorms to Jamaica starting Saturday, September 28.”
The recent heavy rainfall caused multiple local areas to be flooded. On Wednesday, footage surfaced showing several vehicles submerged while other footages show stand still traffic on roads blocked by water in Western Jamaica.
Hurricane Helene, now at category-four is strengthening as it is on a path to make landfall in Florida late Thursday night or early Friday morning. “Lots of damage about to be done in Florida,” said a reporter while covering the activities of the system in a live stream on YouTube.
