Jamaican Government Will Ticket People for not Wearing Mask in Public after Legislation is Done

Persons who don’t wear masks in public will receive a ticket from the authorities after the legislation that is now on it’s way, is approved.

The Prime Minister Andrew Holness revealed that this is a part of the containment measures that was stipulated recently, as a part of the (DRMA) or Disaster Risk Management Act for Covid-19.

He spoke at the Office of the Prime Minister Media Centre in a digital media briefing on Monday.

The PM also reported that the whole ticketing process is at the legislative committee and things are on track for the first week of the new budget year.

The leader said the ticketing measures will be used to strengthen enforcement.

Holness also said he met with Church stakeholders and a proposal was done and it came from them. Now there will be sanctions against those institutions that flout the Coronavirus infection prevention protocols on the island.
