The announcement coincides with a special occasion for the young athlete, who celebrates his 20th birthday on the same day. This ratification adds to Hibbert’s string of record-breaking performances.

Hibbert’s remarkable 17.75m jump was achieved on home soil back in 2024 during the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston. The performance not only shattered his previous U20 record but also solidified his place as one of the most promising athletes in track and field.

Following this achievement, Hibbert impressed on the global stage by finishing fourth in the Olympic final in Paris with a leap of 17.61m, narrowly missing a podium finish by just three centimeters.

In October 2024, World Athletics confirmed his previous U20 record of 17.66m, achieved in Monaco in July 2023 when he was just 18 years old.

That jump surpassed his earlier mark of 17.54m set in Albuquerque earlier the same year. Hibbert’s consistent improvements have highlighted his extraordinary talent and relentless drive for excellence.

His achievements in 2024 also earned him a nomination for the prestigious Men’s Rising Star award at the World Athletics Awards.

The Kingston College alumnus first rose to international prominence at age 17, winning gold at the 2022 World U20 Championships after securing silver the previous year.

On the other hand, Jaydon Hibbert’s best jump is 17.87m at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Baton Rouge, this jump is yet to be ratified by World Athletics.
