JCF Communication 119 Line Out OF Service
A little after noon today, August 1, 2022, the Jamaica Constabulary Force advised the public that its communication line, the 119 emergency number, is out of commission. The JCF stated in a post to their official Twitter page that the issue is currently being addressed by Flow, the telecommunications representative that provides them with cell service. The “force for good” as their Twitter slogan announces, asked for the public’s pardon during this critical time.
Members of the public are ill at ease with the way the JCF made the announcement. In reply to the JCF, someone said “share the alternative options as well, please”, while another commented, “so no back up telephone number like say probably 119 or 911 from Digicel? While they’re fixing things, have Flow set up a system to transfer calls with the push of a button”. This commenter continued by saying that the JCF’s means of operation is “inefficient”.
