Jermaine Edwards Lands Sony Contract Amidst “Beautiful Day” Song’s Success

Popular gospel singer Jermaine Edwards has started the year well by landing a deal with a UK-based company, Sony. Although the artist did not say much about the contract, he did confirm that with the newfound opportunity, he has more control over his content, according to the Jamaica Observer.

He also mentioned Rushawn Ewears, the 16-year-old who helped revitalise his 2014 single “Beautiful Day,” which helped him land the new contract. Edwards said that he is mentoring the child on the business side of the music, and he is also making sure that the youngster gets what is due to him as well.

He expressed his displeasure with how others are using his work and the video of the youngster to earn money without even giving proper credit where it is due. The video of Ewears has since broken the internet because others have been using it on popular social media platforms to accumulate thousands of views to their benefit.

Edwards also indicated that he is working on a song with the 16-year-old and that his voice is now more mature, so he wants the world to know how he now sounds. He said that others are indicating that he should do a remake of the almost 10-year-old single with the youngster, but he doesn’t think that would be necessary at this time.
