John Legend & Alicia Keys Are Headlining A Special ‘Verzuz’ Battle.. Wonder who will Be Watching?

A lot of the entertainment industry became obsolete as people stay quarantined in homes, over the past few months. They are unable to do things they cherished before, like attend large gatherings or concerts.

Some other avenues have thrived during this time of lock down, such as Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Verzuz Instagram Live series.

Verzuz  has been a source of light in a time of darkness, it brings in hundreds of thousands of live viewers every week to watch battles between Hit-Boy and Boi 1da, Nelly and Ludacris, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott, and others.

The upcoming battle between two huge names in music was announced on Saturday. John Legend and Alecia Keys will do a clash for a special Juneteenth edition of the IG live battle series set for June 19,.  

“Let’s celebrate Juneteenth with a special edition #Verzuz! @AliciaKeys vs @JohnLegend on the [piano] Friday, June 19th 8PM EST” the official Verzuz page, had in the caption when the upcoming battle was announced.

Juneteenth the holiday that’s celebrated annually on June 19 th. It commemorates June 19, 1865, this was the day when Union general Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston, Texas, and all people who were previously enslaved in Texas were set free.

John Legend and Alicia Keys both have some mega-hits and a catalogue of B-sides that could cause either of them to be victorious this Friday.
