After being taken in for questioning, former People’s National Party (PNP) Member of Parliament Jolyan Silvera has been charged with the murder of his wife, Melissa Silvera.

It was initially stated that Mellisa passed away from natural causes at the age of 42 after she was found dead in her Stony Hill home in St. Andrew on November 10, 2023.

However, an autopsy conducted after those reports would prove that the mother of four had been killed, with investigators discovering at least three bullet fragments in her body.

Following this discovery, a murder investigation was launched, with Silvera apprehended by the police and taken for questioning on Thursday as a suspect.

The former member of parliament spent the night in custody and was subjected to three rounds of questioning.

Following his initial apprehension as a suspect, detectives assigned to the police’s Major Investigation Division (MID) formally charged Silvera with his wife’s murder on Friday.

Mellisa was laid to rest on Friday after a service at the St. Andrew parish church, where Silvera could be seen openly weeping for his wife while seated next to their sons.
