Junelle Bromfield is doubling down on her most recent comments about being afraid to return to the island because of death threats.
Teasers from her Sim Soul Sessions interview with Simone Clarke have been making rounds online over the past few days. The highlights of the interview involve Bromfield talking about growing up “poor” losing her mom and the harsh backlash that she has been facing from Jamaicans.
According to Junelle, “People say things without knowing how much hurt it might cause…” She has not returned to the island since the Olympics because she fears that someone might hurt her.
Following her comments, many Jamaicans have been sympathising with her, however, the majority believes she’s throwing Jamaica under the bus.
One person commented, “It’s a shame that we treated our own this way. Words are powerful and we have to be careful of the things we say. Continue to push through @junellebromfield you’ll be ok.”
On the other hand, someone stated, “That’s just too much now , just go run for America because at this point u doing the most.”
