“Lyrical Don” Kabaka Pyramid gave Summer Jam an animated performance, captivating the audience and effortlessly commanding their attention. At the festival hosted in Germany, the Rastafarian deejay showed off his lyrical talents on stage by dropping a freestyle that praised the giants of Jamaica’s music industry.
Kabaka’s honourable list of prominent deejays across the reggae and dancehall fraternity kicked off with Junior Gong, followed by Stephen “Ragga” Marley, Super Cat, Ninjaman, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Buju Banton, and Sizzla Kalonji.
“Sekkle Super Cat, and all di one Ninjaman, easy Bounty Killer, and di one Beenie Man…Big up Buju Banton..Kabaka P, mi a di lyrical don,” he deejayed.
He continued by shouting out the members of his band before adding, “Kabaka P, mi a di lyrical don. Mi step up inna Germany up inna Summer Jam, a light another fire pan di one Babylon.”
As Kabaka ran along the stage, dancing and telling the crowd, “Shub up yuh hand if unuh love dancehall…shub yuh hand if unuh love reggae,” the audience pumped their fists into the air.
