Karl Durrant Details Recent Attempt on His Life
Dancehall Publicist/MarketingConsultant agent, Karl Durrant in a statement sent to Yardhype, details his recent life-threatening encounter with an estranged male individual who he knows. The statement reads, “My name is Karl Durrant, I am a 34-year-old public relations consultant, farmer journalist and entrepreneur who resides in St. Mary.”
He continues, “On Saturday July 6, 2024 an attempt was made on my life by a man known to me as “TED” who attacked me with a knife and another object resembling a home made gun at about 7:30pm while me and my wife were entering our premises.”
“At approximately 11:30 am on Saturday July 6, 2024 a man known to me as “TED” entered my premises without my permission and I was alerted by my wife that a man was outside lurking in the yard. I went outside and quickly realized that it was TED and asked him what he was doing on my premises and instructed him to leave my premises.”
“He then stated that he was going to “Kill me or Obeah me because I set police on him” and he then left. Shortly after, I received a phone call from one of my business associates who requested that we meet in Kingston to transact business. As such, my wife and I drove to Kingston.”
“On our way back from Kingston, my 13 year old son, who was at home with his siblings and Aunt in Law, called me in a frantic manner and nervously told me that the same man known as “TED” was in our yard walking around our house and looking through the windows with a flashlight and had a bag around his neck.”
“At the time I received this call I was driving through the town of Highgate and i immediately went to the Highgate police station and reported to Sergent Christopher Ward that a man known as TED who had Earlier threatened to kill me was in my yard walking around my home and i urgently needed the assistance of the police to protect my life and that of my wife, our 2 year old baby, 13 year old son, 17 year old daughter and my wife’s 31 year old sister.”
“I was told by the police that they would be coming behind me. I then drove home and while approaching my drive way I noticed that a fallen branch was blocking a section of my driveway and as such I stopped to remove the branch. It was at that moment I was pounced upon by TED who was lying beside the branch in the dark night (power outage). TED jumped onto my car bonnet and pushed an item which appeared to be a home made gun through the window of the car while gripping a knife in the other hand.”
“In fear for my life and that of my wife and children I grabbed a machete that was left in my car by one of the farm workers and started warding him off. I managed to hit his hand with it that he was carrying the homemade gun type weapon, but he then started stabbing at me with his knife and as such I slapped him with the machete and he then ran off.”
“It must be noted that while i was driving to my home after making the report to the police u alerted my neighbours that TED was in my yard lurking but by the time they arrived he had already ran away. I called called back the Highgate police but they said that they had another emergency but they will come at some point throughout the night. I called 119 and I was told that I would get police assistance.”
“However, it was not until about 11:30pm (4 hours later) that the police arrived. They apologized for their late arrival and explained that they had another emergency. They took a statement from me and asked for the machete which had no blood on it and I also gave them his water boots that he left behind.”
“I was told the next day that he turned up at the Port Maria Hospital.”
The statement concludes with the words, “Me, my wife and children at present are very traumatized and in fear for our lives. TED is determined to take my life because he is blaming me for his recent arrest for sexually assaulting my neighbour’s grand daughter. This is due to the fact that I was the person who brought her to the Highgate Police station after he sexually assaulted her a few months ago.”
