Kartel’s Fate now in Judges Hands

It is possible that the case might be given priority attention, as this was indicated by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Dennis Morrison.
Justices Frank Williams and Patrick Brooks were on the panel and heard the appeal also. This means the decisions will not be made by one judge so no one can be sure at this time.
The lawyers who represented the accused men gave many reasons for the men to be released from prison in almost 5 days of legal submissions. They said their clients did not get a fair trial as contaminated evidence was used to determine if the men were innocent or guilty.
The prosecution insisted that the evidence was not tainted and it should still be used to convict the men, who could have killed Clive “Lizard” Williams in August 2011, at Kartel’s house in Havendale in Kingston.
Adijah Palmer who is called Kartel was given 35 years before he is eligible for parole and the other three men who were also charged for the murder, Shawn Campbell aka Shawn Storm, Andre St. John, and Kahira Jones, got 25 years before there can be any parole hearing.
However throughout the 17- week long murder trial there were a number of questionable factors that has caused many persons to doubt the verdict of the Court. We can only hope that justice will be served when the deliberations are over.
