As she continues to heal from her injuries and attempts to return to her normal life, 19-year-old Kaylan Dowdie is seemingly returning to school.
Dowdie’s life was turned upside down after a brutal, near-fatal attack at a party in 2020. Unlike her peers, the former Papine High School student was unable to further her education due to the extent of her injuries.
However, after undergoing multiple surgeries, Dowdie has been making strides in physical therapy and recently took her first steps since the attack. Veneshia Buckley, Dowdie’s mother, often shares updates about her daughter’s progress and, on Thursday, shared a photo on Instagram seemingly revealing that the teen was going back to school.
“She is ready. I am such a proud mother; to God be the glory,” Buckley wrote, captioning the photo of Dowdie seated in her wheelchair around a desk of computers and dressed in a polo shirt and jeans.
Buckley’s supporters offered words of encouragement in the comment section, with one viewer writing, “To God be the glory great things he has done. So proud of you, girl. Mom, please give yourself a hug. You deserve it.”
