Kim Kardashian’s Divorce From Kanye West Finally Granted

After nearly seven years of marriage and over a year of filing for divorce from her estranged husband Kanye “Ye” West, Kim Kardashian is officially a single woman after a judge granted the divorce.

It is reported that on Wednesday, Kim Kardashian attended her court hearing by means of a video call, whilst her lawyer, Laura Wasser was present in court. Kanye, however, was a no-show. Samantha Spector, West’s lawyer was present and reportedly did not object to the divorce but requested three conditions from the marriage on behalf of her client.

The first condition was to the ‘right of reimbursement’, which means that either Kardashian or West would be reimbursed money owed when one dies. This condition was granted by the judge. However, the two other conditions requested by West’s lawyer were denied. One of the conditions was that Kim K does not transfer assets from their trust before the terms of their property are decided. The final one was that Kim must waive the marital privilege with West or her future partners. Waiving the marital privilege would prevent spouses from testifying or serving as witnesses against each other.

Meanwhile, in the prove-up for the hearing, the judge asked Kim Kardashian a series of questions about her request for divorce from West. One of the questions was if she believes there were problems in the relationship to which she responded “Yes”. Another question asked was if she believes the marriage can be saved through counseling, Kim K responded “No”.

Since December, Kim Kardashian has been asking the judge to restore her single status, which she believed would help Kanye to move on and stop posting their private life on social media which she said has caused her emotional distress. This, however, was denied by West, whereas, he stated that the posts targeted at her were not from him as he had been hacked.

Kim Kardashian is currently in a relationship with her 28-year-old boyfriend Pete Davidson since 2021 while West recently split from his girlfriend Julia Fox and is rumored to be dating a Kim Kardashian look-alike known as Chaney Jones, a social media influencer.
