Queen of Dancehall and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Spice will drop her debut album titled ‘10’, set to be released on the 6th of August 2021. Coincidentally that date marks the release of the recently announced Born Fi Dis’ (Prelude) album by Vybz Kartel. Both artistes in their own right are widely regarded as the king and queen of dancehall with both albums expected to bring the heat. The big question now is, ‘who will reign?’.

Spice’s album ‘10’,  which has been 10 years in the making, will be released by VP Records who began their promotional runs months ago, while Vybz Kartel’s album, to be released by Hapilos, was recently announced,  yet still dominates the social space.

Spice’s previous mixtape ‘Captured’ which was distributed and marketed by Hapilos, topped the Billboard Reggae Album chart in 2018 and garnered international attention. The project featured 19 songs inclusive of the lead single ‘Black Hypocrisy’, which sent fans worldwide into a frenzy when Spice shared a light-skinned photo on Instagram to promote the track. Her new album, on the other hand, will feature 15 tracks, inclusive of her smash hit ‘Go Down Deh’  which is a collaboration with dancehall superstars Shaggy and Sean Paul and was performed live in their recent appearance on the Wendy Williams show.

Vybz Kartel’s surprise album Born Fi Dis’ (Prelude) on the other hand, has stirred up quite a conversation on social media in just 1 week. Fans were shocked at the announcement but are highly anticipating his most lyrical album to date.  With 12 tracks listed on the album, elements of the dancehall king Adijah Palmer, Addi, Di Teacha, and the Worl Boss, are all fused into one powerful sound. ‘Born Fi Dis’ (Prelude) will include ‘More Than a Friday’ the lead single, ‘Money Over Love’ Feat  Sikka Rymes and ‘In Public’.

Both artistes have collaborated with each other over the years in songs such as  ‘Rampin Shop’  in 2009 and ‘Conjugal Visit’ in 2014  and have prided themselves in dominating the dancehall arena. Whether it is their creative and captivating visuals or lyrically laced tracks, both artistes have cemented themselves as dancehall king and queen to fans worldwide. ‘10’ and Born Fi Dis’ (Prelude) are both available for pre-order now and will be officially released on Jamaica’s Independence Day, August 6th.
