Kiprich is currently out on bail after being charged with making a dubplate that allegedly endorsed the One Order gang and Othniel “Thickman” Lobban, who was recently killed by the police. However, according to the artiste, he is not the type of man to incite any type of violence against the police.

Speaking on TVJ’s Entertainment Report, Kiprich seemingly suggested that his dubplate was altered by the selector who requested the custom-made dub.

“Dubplate is something that selector call and order. And when they want it in a particular way, they are able to do so when they get the dubplate because you give them on a split track. And they can do what they want to do with a dubplate,” Kiprich said.

Entertainment Report host Anthony Miller went on to state that Kiprich was clearly heard making statements that appeared to be violent and did not seem to be altered. In response, the Dancehall artiste questioned if listeners were sure that he was the one heard on the recording.

As the matter is before the courts, the Telephone Ting deejay did not wish to clarify if he plans to refute claims that he is the one on the dubplate.

“I cannot say much about the song itself and how the song was structured… I didn’t even know the atmosphere of what was going on in Spanish Town. At that time I wasn’t here. I was abroad. I went to a studio in Philadelphia,” Kiprish said.

According to the deejay, he has done more hardcore dubplates over the course of his career than the one he has been charged for. Kiprich explained that he is not a violent person, and he is deeply hurt by the “criminalising” of his name.

He also suggested that his life may be at risk.

“Mi bredren a tell me seh fi dem police friend tell dem seh ‘Yow, yuh si him, dis a guh reach him.’… Hit list, dis and dat and all dem kind a ting deh. Mi nuh eat food fi four day. Mi feel it.”

He further shared that the current controversy surrounding the dubplate has affected his family, with his daughter expressing fear that they will lose everything because of the rumours being spread. Despite the fallout surrounding the dubplate, Kiprich remains hesitant when it comes to calling it a mistake.

“If I’m doing a job and I did my job a particular way and den give it to whoever, and they do it however they want to do it and put it out there, I can’t call a job a mistake… If there is a guideline that I must follow, let the guideline be known to me,” Kiprich stated.
