Koffee, Shenseea and Tarrus Riley had the top Dancehall songs of 2020

For a second straight year, Koffee has held on to her position among the top artistes out of Jamaica.

Even though 2020 was rough on the music industry and entertainers had to find new ways to stay in the business. Koffee managed to continue moving up. Her song “Lockdown” was also streamed on YouTube by Jamaicans as well, causing it to be in the number one spot on the island for weeks.

With a total of more than 38 million views on YouTube, only the hit song “Lighter” by Shenseea and Tarrus Riley with 34 million views was in the number 2 position. Alkaline’s “Ocean Wave” got a total of 11.5 million views and was placed 3rd.

The fourth position was given to Skillibengs “Crocodile Teeth”, it got 8.7 million views and Teejay’s “From Rags to Riches” with a total of 8.5 million views, was placed in the top 5. 

Koffee says she tries to stay focused on the music and connecting with the people and not the numbers. “Lockdown” attracted 1 million views on YouTube in two days after it was released in July.

The Grammy-Winning artiste was excited about the fact that the song topped the local charts as well. She remembers writing it at the beginning of the pandemic and she is glad that people were able to relate to it.

“Toast” is still doing good on YouTube and it is now at 152 million views and climbing.
