Reggae Boy and Aston Villa forward player Leon Bailey has suffered another injury during a Premier League match against Norwich City on Saturday, April 30.
Just a few minutes before half-time, Brandon Williams, Canaries full-back tackled the young Jamaican footballer causing him to limp from the field.
Coach Steven Gerrard confirmed that Bailey suffered an ankle injury and the extent thereof will be ascertained when an MRI scan is done in a few hours.
“It’s an ankle issue. In terms of the extent and the damage, I’m sure he’ll be MRI scanned in the next 24 to 48 hours. I’m really disappointed and frustrated for him because he’s worked really hard to get back, he’s been training ever so well,” Gerrard stated.
After playing a full match last week against Leicester City, the coach informed that they anticipated that Bailey would continue to build his momentum on the field after sitting out due to previous injuries. However, concerns are now being raised due to the likelihood of the severity of this damage.
“He’s frustrated, we’re frustrated and I’m sure the supporters are as well,” Gerrad said.
Bailey has suffered multiple injuries in the past, which have resulted in him being sidelined for numerous matches. Most recently, he suffered an injury to the thigh and was out for a total of 67 days.
The match concluded with Aston Villa scoring a 2-0 win against Norwich City.
