Following his hiatus from the senior national men’s football team, Leon Bailey appears to be ready to make his return, with the footballer added to the Reggae Boyz squad list on Friday.

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) announced the Boyz’ squad list today ahead of their games in September against Cuba and Honduras in the CONCACAF Nations League. The 26-man squad will be comprised of goalkeepers Andre Blake, Jahmali Waite, and Conniah Boyce-Clarke.

The squad includes defenders Damion Lowe, Di’Shon Bernard, Ethan Pinnock, Amari’i Bell, Greg Leigh, Richard King, Dexter Lembikisa, Michael Hector, and Joel Latibeaudiere.

The team’s midfielders will feature Kasey Palmer, Karoy Anderson, Bobby Reid, Jon Russell, and Adrian Reid Jr. Additionally, Michail Antonio, Shamar Nicholson, Demarai Gray, Kaheim Dixon, Norman Campbell, and Leon Bailey were announced as forwards.

Bailey, who announced that he would be taking a break from the Reggae Boyz in March, has not played in the national colours for a number of months now. Reacting to his inclusion in the squad, some fans questioned if the Aston Villa player would in fact make his return.

“Leon Bailey know he was included in the squad??? I don’t want another news come out that no permission was given 😂😂too much drama,” one fan wrote.

In June, the JFF announced Bailey as a member of their Copa America squad. But the announcement was later described as misleading information, with the footballer’s agent Craig Butler stating that the JFF “jump the gun.”

However, according to reports from the Jamaica Observer, Bailey has expressed his commitment to the team to head coach Stephen McClaren. The footballer has also reportedly confirmed his return in writing.
