Man Fatally Hit by Motorist in Ocho Rios

Christopher Hawthorne of Charles Town in St. Mary died after he was mowed down on the Ocho Rios bypass in the vicinity of Buckfield, in St. Ann, on Monday morning. Reports indicate that at about 12:10 am, Hawthorne was hit by a red 2016 Land Rover Discovery motor car while on the bypass.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Monday morning’s crash is the third to have occurred on the bypass in the past 72 hours. On Saturday, four vehicles collided in two separate crashes.

As reported by the Jamaica Observer, Since the start of the year, at least 12 people have been killed in road crashes in St. Ann. In light of this, some residents are urging road users in the parish to exercise caution.

“The people dem need to take time pon the road man! Where you speeding to go, uno grave? And the Ochi bypass is a big problem, people tend to speed on it, this can’t continue,” a resident who did not want to be identified said.
