George Williams now 71 years of age is finally a free man after being in prison for a long 50 years without a trial. After being locked away for so long the charges laid against him have been dropped.
The event transpired on Wednesday before the St.Catherine Parish Court.
The known Human Rights group; Stand up for Jamaica were the ones who took the initiative to help Williams who is also noted to be mentally ill to now be a free man.
They had him represented by Attorney at law Isat Buchannan. While in a celebratory mood outside the courthouse, Pamela Green, who is Willimas’s niece expressed to the news her joy after being able to see her uncle walk free after spending 50 years in prison.
Attorney Buchannan, mentioned to the news that the process which took place all in seven days in his opinion is what swift justice looks like and something necessary for the justice system of Jamaica to have as there are many others like George Williams that need to be assisted in the same manner.
