A man was accused of assault because he beat his ex-lover after she caught him leaving a Kingston hotel with another woman. He described the incident that led up to the alleged assault as a scene that you would see in a movie.
On Monday, February 15 the man recounted the incidents that caused the problem, in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
He described how he was leaving an establishment with another female in his car, when she jumped through the driver’s window and scratched the other woman, he explained how he only saw similar action in the movies.
The incident allegedly left the complainant with pain, bruises on her fingers and swelling to her neck.
Joel Williams, who is charged with assault, explained to the court that the relationship with the complainant ended last October.
However, the complainant said she confronted him about another woman and the relationship ended that night.
The complainant revealed that she asked Williams if the woman in his car was Paula but he did not answer. According to the victim, the other woman sat there and watched him beat her.
This wasn’t the first time he was allegedly beating her and the last time he did it she told him if he does it again she would take him to court. She explained how he begged her children to ask her to stay with him but she is finished with him, as she can’t be bothered with the lies and the cheating anymore.
However, when the judge asked Williams if he had hit the complainant he said he didn’t.
Williams was offered bail under the condition that he won’t contact the complainant.
His trial will begin on April 6.
