Manchester United Beat Man City 2-1 in Comeback Victory – Watch Highlights

Manchester United are back, or so it seems, as the Red Devils beat their fellow Manchester rivals 2-1 after a stunning comeback victory. The first half of the game was very much even as both teams got chances, with the home team carving out the better clear-cut chances.

Marcus Rashford had two one-on-one opportunities with the City goalkeeper but failed to hit the back of the net.

The second half started with the Citizen’s dominating position. Manchester City, who suffered a shock defeat against the Saints, took the lead with half an hour left on the clock through their substitute Grealish who nodded in a superb finish derived from a brilliant cross from De Bruyne.

Manchester City was on course to win back-to-back derbies against United. After a VAR check cleared Rashford of being offside in the build-up to Bruno Fernandes’ equaliser (78), Rashford turned in Alejandro Garnacho’s cross four minutes later to score for nine consecutive times at Old Trafford. Rashford has been on a scoring spree since returning from the World Cup, where he scored three goals for the Three Lions, and has now scored eight goals in seven matches.

Momentum is certainly with Manchester United right now, and the side is poised to launch a late title challenge now. Having won nine of their last games in all competitions and 12 in a row at home, the Red Devils can make up ground on Arsenal when they travel to the Emirates next weekend, following a trip to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

With this win, United is only a point behind City, who has 39 points after 18 matches, and six behind Arsenal, who is on 44 points.

City, however, seems to be slipping away from current table-toppers Arsenal. It’s the second devastating result of the week for Pep Guardiola and his team, following this defeat in his 500th top-flight match just days after Southampton knocked his side out of the Carabao Cup. After dropping four points from four games since the World Cup, their match with Tottenham on Thursday could prove decisive.
