The former British law enforcer and security consultant went into much detail about his time as DCP while talking to hosts, highlighting that some of his colleagues were willing to work with him while others were not because they saw him as a white foreigner, he labelled them as “badmind” and “prejudicial”.

While talking about his continued crime-fighting endeavours, he declares that he now runs a crime-fighting company that he established in 2009 called ‘Shields Crime and Security’. Aside from the crime among locals, the Englishman highlights that crime in Jamaica is not common among people of his kind.

Despite the crime rate still being unacceptably high, Shields declares that things have been gradually “getting better”. However, the island won’t see an acceptable low crime rate until several sectors of the country are fixed, including Education, living conditions, etc.

Shields was asked about Youtuebr Sir. P, he initially said that he doesn’t know of the name, but after being shown a picture/video he outlined that he in fact does know of the Youtuber and went on to downplay his work, labelling it as “rubbish… a lot of it is rubbish… I’ve heard him.” He also recalls the vlogger doing a video about him and Adams which he labelled as inaccurate.

As per Shields, Sir P is amongst the people online who are trying to exploit the public, “I’ve listened to that guy and he’s talking conspiracies and I’m waiting for the evidence but it’s not… It’s sad that people out there actually listen to that and believe it, it’s rubbish.”

He also talked about himself and former top cop Reneto Adams not seeing eye to eye after getting him charged for a murder that took place in 2003.

After talking about Sir. P, his wife, crime and crime-fighting initiatives, Shields talked about Dancehall culture and several artistes. Mark Shields recalled being the DCP at the heights of the Gully and Gaza ‘war’ led by Mavado and Vybz Kartel.

He details getting on phone calls to get Mavado and Kartel together. The man who is intent on law and order details that he remains good friends with Mavado over the years while alluding to Kartel being a renegade.

As per Mark Shields, he helped Mavado to get a visa, a deed that seemingly made Mavado show loyalty to him. With regards to Dancehall’s influence on crime debate, Shields believes that the music does help to influence crime while noting that the music is also a reflection of society.
