It has been over six months since dancehall superstar Mavado uploaded new music to his official Youtube channel. The animated lyric video for the song titled ’21 Psalm’ showcases a more conscious side of the Gangster for Life deejay.
The artiste holds nothing back in expressing his pain in the over three-minute-long audio. Gully God even made mention of his son, who has been incarcerated for more than three years now and was eventually sentenced to life in prison at only 18 years of age.
As Mavado is currently overseas, his freedom is in jeopardy if he returns to the Island of his birth, according to the entertainer himself. In the audio, the artiste spoke about his incarcerated son by saying, “My son in a prison wah fi be free, and I wah focus on my life.”
David Brooks, popularly known as Gully God, is no stranger to controversial situations, he recently found himself in the headlines after the news broke that an embattled real estate attorney Jennifer Messado had been suspected of defrauding entertainer Mavado out of almost $31 million.
The former attorney-at-law Jennifer Messado will stand trial on March 1 of this year on allegations that she defrauded dancehall entertainer Mavado of more than $30 million.
So with all the struggles and tribulations facing the musician, his just-released audio effectively encapsulates his pain, as expressed in one of the verses from the audio, the singer said, “I want freedom, cah hold me down no more. They got me down for a long time.” The heartfelt song will certainly, resonate with the singer’s loyal fanbase.
